The Bootcamp

Calling All Emerging Managers
Launch Strong with The Bootcamp

Dr. Louis Moret The Bootcamp is a 3-hour intensive workshop designed to provide emerging managers with strategic assistance as they plan and launch new funds. The focus of the sessions will be on effective fundraising, developing an effective "pitch", establishing back office operations and LP reporting—and will feature an open exchange between emerging managers who have launched and "graduated" in the eyes of plan sponsors along with those just launching their investment businesses.

"Launching a new business—especially in this environment—is challenging. We want to provide emerging managers with the knowledge and tools needed to help them launch strong and successfully," said Irene Moram, Principal, Talon Eight, LLC. There's a tendency among entrepreneurs to focus time, energy and resources in one area of the operation, sometimes to the detriment of other areas. Operational excellence and efficiency are key drivers for success, and the Bootcamp will help instill those principles."

Face to Face with Dr. Louis Moret

Dr. Louis Moret A vocal and long-time advocate of emerging minority managers, CalPERS’ trustee Dr. Louis Moret offers insights into the value of The Consortium and the role it plays in helping plan sponsors meet and identify potential emerging managers. Now in his second year of a four-year term on the CalPERS board, Moret brings more than 30 years experience in public policy, administration and finance and community service to the post. Moret served on the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Board, where he was the longest serving appointed member in the history of that retirement system. RG & Associates recently caught up with Dr. Moret to gather his perspectives.

Why attend The Consortium?
The Consortium is one of the best opportunities to meet and start a dialogue with minority managers. The Speed Networking session (aka VIP Connect) is unmatched. It’s an efficient use of time—focused and fast-paced with just enough time to begin a dialogue and identify potential investment talent.
